At army basic training, will my cell phone be confiscated? How about a flat iron for my hair? I suppose they will be, but maybe worth a shot?

when you first arrive at your first base. you will be given a speech on what is allowed and not. All of those items that are not allowed as in CELL PHONE and the specialty iron will be not allowed. you have 2 choices. Put them in an envelope to mail home or dispose of them. You will not have a need for that cell phone for the next 12 weeks so just leave that at home. Good Luck to you.

Any boot camp will take away a cell phone.......Do not take civilian clothes cause you will not need them, all you need is the clothes on you back. You can bring the basic's, hygene products, towels(face/wash cloths, bath towel must be brown) also take 1 white towel........your recruiter should have given you a list of items to bring

When i entered the Army they took everything I had. I would leave it all at home if you care for it because you want see it again. Basic isnt like it used to be since there is no draft its alittle easier. Have fun.......

you won't have time for those things! and I can assure you that you won't give a darn about your hair when you're crawling through mud and doing PT at 4 am. In all seriousness, those things won't be allowed. They will tell you what to bring, and what to leave...and are quite strict about it.

Sorry, but you can't have either. Your hair will be up at all times and bring a phone card to call home.

yes, your cell phone will be confiscated. and as far as a flat iron...no need for that, i promise. you can't use electronics anyhow. and don't listen to above response. you are issued desert boots. no shoe-shining in basic anymore. welcome to the army, HOOAH!!!

you should be given a list of what you might need, but things like cell phones will not be needed so don't bother with it.
