No, if they were regulated there would be more space in jail and the gov't would make oney anyway, so why not?

You should watch the movie "Grass". It gives a wonderful history of the laws surrounding marijuana. It cannot and should not be lumped with other "harder" drugs.
What I find obscene are all the legal drug advertisements on TV. Personally, I rarely even take an aspirin, yet on a daily basis I see people self medicating for a whole slurry of perceived ailments. The mentality is prevalent to pop a pill for just about anything.

Certain ones should but our government has its priorities *** backwards. Back when our goverment was starting its serious "war on drugs" under Nancy Regan, 81% of the resources and arrest made were being used to bring down Columbian and other Foreign drug lords trafficing coke and heroin. Cocaine and Heroin have been found to be huge problems for society. But In 2005, 98% of the arrests in the "war on drugs" was for "personal marijuanna users." A lot of this is because they tend to be "easier" a.k.a non violent when being arrested and also tend to be the ones that pay their fines which is revenue for the government. Something is really wrong when the goverment claims that the second biggest threat to society next to terroists is that college kid on the couch who wants a pizza. Thank Ms Nancy Regan for putting someone with a joint in the same federal catagory (criminal) as rapists and murderers. By the way, I applied to military after 9/11 to serve my country but was rejected because I was found smoking a joint behind a movie theater a few months earlier. Thanks Ms. Regan

NO it is pure insanity to think we could build a nation (USA) of the scoundrels, misfits, and felons of all other countries put them all together and make a group of laws (victimless i might add) based on nothing more than being prohibitive. Good old Abe Lincoln said you can not make a law strictly to be prohibitive, for all you will do is to create a new vice. when America failed at stopping booze we should have learned, all it did was increase consumption. The same thing it has done for drugs. Our pointless laws rooted in bigotry have destroyed who knows how many lives.

The war on drugs is a failure. I believe anybody should be able to put whatever they want into their bodies so long as they don't harm anybody else. The war on drugs has increased violence, created stronger drugs, formed violent drug lords and gangs, and through my own experience made it easier for kids to access the drugs. They can't even keep drugs out of prisons let alone in society itself. As far as rape and murder that harms other people and I don't except that.

As a police officer for over 30 years working narcotics for over 20 years...
I have too often seen the results of what illegal drugs and drug addiction do to our youth as well as adults and the families associated with these folks.
Drugs are not secluded to a specific group of ethnic group but to all walks of life.
As I would tell my own child, I'd prefer to know that the pilot of my airplane, doctor performing my surgery, or lawyer finalizing my legal documents were competent and not making mistakes due to drug abuse.
You can't tell me that marijuana is good and has no downfalls. You can tell me that there are drugs which cause more IMMEDIATE harm and yet because I'm required by law AND oath to represent the laws equally....I have no other choice than to effect an arrest when a law is broken in my presense.
As for marijuana specifically, it is classified under the Controlled Substance Act of 1970 (CSA) in Schedule I due to its' lack of medical use, potential for abuse, and potential for addiction.
Two federal departments, the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services (which includes the Food and Drug Administration) determine which drugs are added or removed from the various schedules, though the statute passed by Congress created the initial listing.
I believe these folks are more prone to provide health information from the experts than we are in the streets.
Best wishes!

Not all drugs should be, so many natural drugs are earth's present to the mankind, some can heal your wounds while other are used to heal your soul. The only thing that should be illegal on earth are dumb people and people using drugs because they've got nothing else to rely on...

I believe that there are some illegal drugs that don't need to be illegal. However, your reasoning is wrong. Why have any laws? There are always people who are not going to obey them.
The drugs that alter your state of mind (LSD, etc.) should definitely be illegal. However, recreational use of drugs like marijuana and cocaine is no more dangerous than causal consumption of alcohol. And, those two drugs are the reason that our prisons are overflowing. Too many people are in jail for possessing and selling drugs.
Want to stop gang violence? Legalize pot and coke. That accounts for a huge portion of their profits. Cut their profits, and there will be no gangs to join.

"drugs" should not be illegal. They should be regulated, taxed heavily, and controlled. Fill the tax coffers with money, jail people who sell drugs without collecting the tax, license people who sell drugs (more revenues...) control the boarders so drug smuggling is stopped. Use some of the revenues to rehab addicts. Win-Win situation.

I think the sale of Drugs and smuggling of drugs should be.
But as far as using drugs, that is a medical problem and should be treated like one. Right now our prisons are overfilled with drug users. They should go thru rehab
