I can get into itunes but as soon as i click on something on the left menu bar, my computer freezes and then i when i reboot it doesnt get past the first screen! whats going on?
i have updated virus protection, scans everyday, i have anti spyware, scans everyday!The wierd thing is i used it for a week when i first got it (itunes) and it was fine. i didnt add anything new... and all of the sudden it doesnt work.

If I uninstall itunes, how do i makes sure my songs dont get deleted?

Uninstall it and then download it again for free. Simple.

Ensure you remove the application from:
↓ Control panel
↓ Add / Remove programmes

try uninstalling it and then downloading it again. i dont know where you got your itunes from, but the actual CD is the best one. if that doesnt work, may be you have too much space on your computer. try deleting a few programs (ones that you dont need)
