People who continually mispronounce common words or continually use words to mean one thing that mean something entirely different and never realize it. This woman I work with does this. Below, on the right, is a list of words and on the left is how she pronounces them

Supposedly=Supposibly
Especially=Exspecially
Escape=Exscape

AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I am French and I do not make those mistakes. On the other hand, I always have to think twice for some words like opposite and opossum or I will pronounce oppOsite and Opossum instead of vice versa and one thing I learned in English is that if you put the accentuation on the wrong syllabe, oh sorry, the wrong syllable (syllabe is French), nobody understands you. I do not know which is worth, oh sorry, which is worse: annoy people by mispronouncing some words or just not being understood at all.
By the way President Bush cracks me up when he can never get some words right (like nuclear...nucular..).

I do not have a problem with it in the first instance. The thing is to find out why the person is doing it, maybe they do not know how to say the word correctly, so you can very nicely correct them. Or somethimes it is a language and pronunciation barrier that has them doing this. Or maybe they suffer from what linguists call spoonerism or spoolerism. Where they just mix up the syllabals. Now when it comes to people just intentionally being ingnorant, like a family member of mine who thinks its cute, that's when i get annoyed.

I think people hear words made up so often that they feel the need to do it themselves, they probably think it's cute too. I hate it when it is on purpose (I work around alot of imigrants that mispronounce words but they are still learning english).
Have you ever noticed that the media does it too. The first one that comes to mind is Brangelina = Brad and Angelina. I hate that one too.

Yeah, I hate it when people say "flustrated", like a mix between "flustered" and "frustrated"...I never say anything, but it feels good to voice our frustration, doesn't it?!!

I also hate it when people misspell common words...they shouldn't be using the English language if they can't master it!

Don't forget nuclear=nucular and library=libary. And my all-time favorite, mischievous=mischievious, as though it were a cross between mischief and devious.
