I do not like windows vista, is there a way i can get xp on my new laptop? I just bought it yesterday, and had no choice but to get one with vista in it. I tried to get one before vista was released but the stores where sold out.

idk. i have had the same thoughts as you (except for the new computer part). i guess tha you could get an XP disc and reformat teh harddrive and install XP. the discs should be going for a lot less now that vista is released.

There are too many record issues, both from shoppers and Microsoft. the first provider p.c.. isn't scheduled the the 2d quarter of 2008. i'd not make investments in it till eventually then. once you've $70 i ought to purchase an oem replica of XP residing house off ebay and run it till eventually SP a million for Vista comes out. I trust the 2d poster you ought to have minimum of 1gb of RAM, regardless of XP lately. IMO it will be numerous years before Vista is as solid a XP is immediately. solid success.

Personally, I would've told them to f**k themselves.
Only selling Vista, which is brand new and gauranteed to be full of bugs (not to mention a horrible resource hog), would be a reason to tell them to stick the laptop up their azz.
With that said - I would probably just find someone with a fairly fresh load of XP, and copy it to the new hard drive - use Ghost or similar program.

Simply buy the XP operating package from a retail (computing) store. I would recommend either:
Home edition
or
Professional
Ensure you get Service pack two...
