There is no cure for the common cold. So called cold medicines usually contain an antipyretic (for fever) , decongestant and antihistamine (anti-allergic). They just make the secretions drier so that the virus is excreted more slowly and actually prolong the illness. Home remedies like chicken soup are really the best to make you feel better.
