Here is the scenario.Suppose I have a license just to drive a normal saloon car but dont have a license to operate a taxi. But if I own a taxi for whatever reason it is ;is it possible for me to drive it solely for the purpose of just driving it and not for business ie to carry passengers commercially? The place is New york city. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Probably by putting "Not for hire" up. But check to make sure. You may be required to remove the taxi markings to use it as your personal vehicle.

If you are not carrying paying passengers, you can drive the taxi as if it is a normal vehicle! Put an "off duty" sign on the windshield, and leave the taxi light off!!
