I guess James hasn't heard the higher exhortation to "be no more children": Ephesians 4; Neither sort of two sorts of children compared in Matthew 13 by JC and Romans 9 by Paul; Reason being children get tossed to<->fro by law law, and children differ nothing from servants(slaves). So the higher exhortation, concerning two sorts of servants also compared in Romans 6 is "thou art no more a servant", neither of these two servants.

For "God said" from the get go: Let us make "man" (not child of child/man); And Paul: "his witness unto all men" said when I became a "man" I put away "child"-ish things: laws, loves, especially love of money.

So the objective isn't save the children, but grow the children; "grow in grace", not in law law. For even "the second" of two laws in Mt 22:36-40 law law is notably "like unto the first": Law: sin and death; And so also the second in Rom 8:2 law law.

So when they sayers say "peace and safety" in "another law", the second of Romans 8:2 law law; Well, then "sudden destruction" of the "no escape" sort comes upon "them": 1Thessalonians 5:3.

On the contrary, "escape" is via "give more earnest heed".

When the shew is ended properly, as it is already written,
then "none perish" by no law = no sin = no death to any.

Maybe, but maybe not.
I wouldn't try to guess at someone's motives as you would end up most likely judging them. We can only know for certain if someone is real by looking at their fruit. You don't get rotten fruit from a good tree, right? So, is his fruit glorifying the Lord? Is he giving glory to God?

A friend of mine once worked for his ministry (Focus on the Family) He's not in it for the money. He just wants to help familes in their relationships to God and each other.

I don't know him personally, but have read a few of his books. I personally don't think he is in it for the money, but to fulfill his calling and help people.
