The term "Allah" simply means "the [one] god", implying a single Almighty deity reminiscent of the Judeo-Christian "Yahweh" / "Jehovah". However, it is significant that "Allah" is clearly NOT a personal name, while the Hebrew Tetragrammaton clearly *IS* a personal name for Almighty God.

It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". Faithful men of the Holy Scriptures used both "God" and a form of "Jehovah" when they referred to and addressed the Almighty. However, the term "Allah" seems intended specifically to reject Judeo-Christian spiritual heritage.

If we want a familiar and close relationship, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.

The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.

The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".

(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth

(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

because the name of God can not really be pronounced. so we say ALLAH. Alah means the only worthy of worship. this word has no plural, no gender. Thus we use this word. in english and other languages God could be, Goddess, Godesses, Gods, etc... But Allah can not be used in this manner!

Besides: Allah is in Arabic, Quran is in Arabic, God uses the word Allah to name Himself in the Quran so why should we use something different?

Also Ellah (in Arameic the language spoken by Jesus himself) is Allah so he did not cal Allah Jehovah! :)

The Muslim faith is man made, mixed with different religions, basically of folks who want to make rules that fit their character, weaknesses, geographically located customs, and fanatical devotion to hate the world if you are not muslim. Murder and all other sin against christians is O.K. or anyone else different. ALLAH is a great guy, ...just read the Koran.... no problem..just pull out your sword .....and CHARGE ahead.

Allah ( Ilah ) is the name for God in Aramaic the language that Jesus spoke.

Jesus never prayed to God or even referred to God using any word but Allah.

People who say that Allah is a false God do not know what they are talking about, and they are most certainly not following the true teachings of Jesus.

Love and blessings.

That's rather silly, Jesus Said (Elohim) which is close to (Allahum) in arabic which means "Oh God" (or "Oh Allah")

Not just muslims say Allah, but Arab Christians and jews do too.

I have a Christian Friend who's name is Abdullah (Servant of Allah.)

Two reasons:

The word Allah is in Arabic

Quran is in Arabic

God uses the word Allah to name Himself in the Quran.

And there is a lot of proof most people who spoke Aramaic used the same word to name God.

This is what we were taught by the Prophet through the Quran. And why do you call yours Jehovah? You will say it is mentioned in the Bible and so is ours.
