Ok Im not downing our president, but who thinks that he's making a big mistake? By sending more troops. Im also afraid that if we train their troops that they will back fire, and and use those skills to fight us. Mabe he's right in what he's doing, but I can say this.... he's very brave in what he's doing, because he knows evryone is aganst him, but he's sticking to what he believes is right. But im afraid......at what cost???? what do you think?

if people don't think al-qaeda is behind much of the uprising in iraq, then people are just turning a blind eye.
the people beheading humanitarian workers are the SAME radical muslims that attacked the USA on 09/11/01.
i would much rather have them fight over there instead of here.
we need to secure the whole region lest we be attacked again.
i am just being honest. God Bless President Bush.

I think we broke it, now we own it. I think it is our duty and obligation to help the government of Iraq stand and defend themselves against enemies both foreign and domestic. I think 20,000 is too low. I would have sent 200,000. The reason he is sending a low number is because the opposition to a troop increase. Everyone knows the increase needs to be more, but it comes down to political game playing bs. Playing games when mens lives are on the line, like a goddamn chess game.

I don't believe he's sending enough troops. He needs to do a real escalation and show the region he's not kidding around. 100,000 more troops and massive sweeps of each region.

I think he has made some big mistakes, I don't think we should send more troops but we should be pulling them out. I don't know really what would happen if we did train their troops. I don't really know if he is right to send more over there but it is his opinion and know body really knows what he was thinking when he decided this.

I am in the military and I am right there along with you on most of it, but more soldiers on the ground means more security and more personnel for training purposes, this will help us to accomplish the mission set before us. This will help to decrease our chances of having to go back in the future.

I had to go into a trance to answer your question. I had to look into the president's soul to get the answer.

Here's what happened.

Bush's advisors from the Project for the New American Century outlined the strategy in Iraq for the new president Bush. He was convinced, after all these men who were advising him had been working and studying these problems in Iraq for a long time and had come up with a strategy to deal with the middle east.
Bush bought their whole argument and signed on with them, confident that these advisors with their plans would make him a successful, visionary president who was willing to take bold actions in world affairs. He listened to his advisors. They schooled him in history and told him not to worry about what people thought of his administration, to ignore the polls and let history be the judge of his administration. This realization to Bush was like a religious experience. The yoke of this burden and his legacy was suddenly lifted off his shoulders. He knew judgement day would not come in his lifetime and he went to bed secure and slept soundly every night.

Then, the world began to shift. The pillars in his life began to crumble. His party lost a major advantage in the midterm elections.
Now, the power shifted away from the president. Those who supported him so confidently in the beginning of his term were now scurrying in the other direction. The Commander in Chief was now faced with following his party's lead, admitting that the war on terror was not working and was a failure. Now that their scheme has collapsed, they mean to back out with their support and leave the president looking like a total failure and with no way to salvage his legacy.

No, those are conditions that this president will not accept. He will not allow "them" to take him down this road and then simply abandon him, leaving him to take the blame for this disaster.

"You got me into this" is Bush's attitude, "and now you can't simply walk away."

Bush has gone his own way in the past, with his nomination for supreme court justice of Harriet Myers for example. As president he thought he could exercise his presidential powers unilaterally. He found out otherewise. He learned that his presidential powers are not really his powers. In learning that lesson, he learned what his powers really are. He learned that he is indeed the commander in chief. In this arena, no one can usurp his powers and he can be seen as a resolute leader.

For Bush the choice is simple. Choose to accept defeat and cast his legacy in stone, for accepting the democrat's proposals is admitting his policy did not work, or continue in the fight and hope that something will happen in the future that will salvage his legacy as president.

This way he can put off the judgement day until after he is dead. This way he can still sleep snug in his bed.

The cost in American lives (volunteers i might add) will pale in comparison to the cost that would happen if we leave now. This would have far reaching implications both in distance and in time.

You are confusing bravery with stubborness and the desire to save his presidency from utter failure. 4 surges have been launched and all 4 failed!! Once again he is going to send troops into certain death or serious injury despite what generals, the Congress and the people want. How can you admire such a fool? He should be tried for criminal behavior.
