I found the answer...from wikipedia:
In some biblical interpretations, the 'apple' was a metaphor for sexuality, 'the first sin' and so forth. This is heavily disputed, especially since the first commandment[3] given to Adam and Eve in the Book of Genesis was to "be fruitful and multiply".

Its not.

This is a misinterpretation. When the bible speaks of partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you are reading what is called a metaphor. Knowledge of good and evil is a metaphoric reference to judgment. When you judge something you attempt to determine if it is acceptable or not. In effect you are deciding if it is good or evil from your point of view.

Once we were just like the animals and recognized that everything in the garden that God had given us was good. At some point we started to judge some thing as being better than others are. This set up a situation where something’s were more appealing to us than others. We started wishing for these things and were no longer happy with some of the other things in the garden.

This is what is referred to as the fall of man, or separation from God. Some references actually call this the detour into insanity. This self-induced separation from the knowledge of the perfection of god’s gifts to us was never shared by the animals. They were too smart to fall for this silly idea and were not fooled by the ideas of good and evil. For this reason they exist along side of us still experiencing the perfection of the garden. While we have excluded ourselves with our ideas of judgment. This is a truly fascinating subject that has many interesting facets. Including how to reverse the process and return to the original state. If you feel the need to discuss it further send an email.

Love and blessings.

It's not, technically.

If you read the book of Genesis closely, there is no mention of an apple.

The first sin, though, was that Eve listened to the serpant (Satan) and ate fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Bible doesn't specify what exactly that fruit was like.

Personally, I would think the serpant, who kind of got in her head, is more a "symbol of sin". It's kind of like if you give under pressure from someone to steal money. The money isn't to blame. Same goes with the fruit: Adam and Eve were certainly the #1 people responsible for the sin. Then the Serpant, who tricked them. The fruit really wasn't, it was just an inanimate object that was related to the sin itself.

The apple has evolved into what most people think of when they think of that "fruit", and because when she ate that fruit, whatever it was, that was the first sin.

Before that, because she and Adam had no knowledge of good or evil, they were innocent, and therefore not responsible for their actions, much like most people believe small children are today.

Tidbit: in the New Testament, there is no mention of "three wise men". There were "wise men" (plural, at least more than one), and three gifts. Maybe there were six wise men, and they went halfsies on the gifts. Same kinda deal, it's the generally accepted part of the story, even though it's never technically mentioned in the Bible.

The apple is not the symbol of sin. The apple is simply the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Knowledge was passed to Adam and Eve from the tree through the fruit. The sin, or original sin, was in violating God's law of not taking of the fruit from the tree of knowledge. Satan showed how powerless he is against Gods true power when God punished him to appear on earth always in the form of the serpent, as he appeared before Eve.

The apple is not mentioned the The Holy Bible as the forbidden fruit. The Bible says that Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden Tree of Life. Just like in so many other things, we humans have inserted our input to as it was an apple. May God Bless U.

In Genesis, The bible says EVERY TREE THAT GREW OUT OF THE GROUND WAS GOOD FOR FOOD, But there was 2 other trees that did not grow out of the ground but both was in the midst of the garden & those 2 trees is the Law of Reproduction, If woman have waited until that time cycle came around to have another offspring, In God's Perfect time frame, That baby would have been born with eternal life, But The serpent was an upright creature that was a worker for Adam, & not a snake as many thinks, He was not a snake UNTIL God cursed him, So The serpent enticed Eve to have a relationship out of God's due time frame & she realized that this act can also be used for pleasure, Therefore she took from the tree of knowledge of good & evil, & watch the curse, The serpent was cursed & went upon his belly Gen. 3:14 & Eve was cursed & what was cursed, her reproductive organs, & she lost the knowledge of when God's perfect time is for reprodction, & God said to EVE I will greatly mulitiply thy conceptions, & God went to Adam, & said from this day forth you will earn your living by the sweat of thy face, why, Because Adam no longer has his worker.

The Bible does not say it was an apple.

Genesis 2: 16 & 17: "And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

Genesis 3:2 & 3: "At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’”

Genesis 3: 6: "6 Consequently the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable to look upon. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it."

That is not the symbol of sin. The sin was the disobedience to the command of God. Adam and Eve were created perfect, without sin. Because of their disobedience and oppostion to their Father and Creator, sin entered into the world.

Romans 5:12: "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned"

If you want to understand the Bible, read the Bible. If you read the Bible a while and you still don't understand it, ask God to explain it to you. And if you still don't understand it, find a Christian website that explains it. Wikipedia is good for some things, but its not good for interpreting the Bible. Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God's command not to eat of the tree of the knowlege of good and evil. By eating of that tree, they learned what sin was. Sex is not a sin. If it was, no one would be here.

There's no apple in the book of Genesis. It's called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

I do not think the "apple" represents sin, and there is no mention of an apple, just 'a fruit' from a tree.
