You could have become allergic to a number of things. Have you changed washing powder? You might be allergic to an ingredient in the product you use. Some people also become allergic to post wash rinse softeners.
Those alternatives seem the most obvious and are worth investigating. Also have you changed your soap or started washing with shower gel? Have your shirts got a large proportion of man made fibre rather than pure cotton? Do you take the time to rinse yourself thoroughly after showering? All these factors can trigger eczema, namely a reddish rash that is very itchy and comes and goes. Occasionally this condition may be triggered by stress or worry and disappears when matters improve.
My husband started to suffer from it out of the blue and it turned out to be caused by remainders of washing powder on our sheets because the rinsing cycle in our washing machine was not working properly.
Scratching makes it worse. I bought some calamine from the chemist and applied it on his back and it did give some relief. He then got proper medication from his GP. I changed the powder we used to a different non biological brand, and stopped using fabric softener on his shirts and on bed linen. I also gave extra rinses when doing the laundry. All these measures combined solved the problem. Good luck!

Are you under a lot of stress lately?
Did you change your detergent recently or your soap/cologne?
Does it itch? Is it warm to the touch? Are you eating any new or different foods? On any new medication-even over the counter meds?
Is it spreading? these are all questions yor dr. or dermatologist is going to ask you-in other words make an appt. If you don't have insurance or $ to cover the bill. Invest in a $4.00 tube of hydrocortisone cream10% and apply it thinly to the affected areas. Follow directions on the tube., also pick up packets of Aveeno oatmeal bath and soak. If you are not allergic take some ibuprofen it will help with the swelling.

Right when the rash starts to appear take a shower in Dawn dish detergent,it will strip your skin of anything you may be allergic to .If the rash is still appearing it could be something you would want to see a Dermatologist about. My brother has anxiety and he sometimes gets hives that break out in a rash form on his skin. This happens when he is upset or worried.

Sounds like an allergy - maybe to a new washing powder? Either that or it could be eczema caused by stress. You should go and see your doctor to have it checked out, but be cautious with hydrocortizone creams as they can thin the skin if used too much. You can get them on prescription or weaker ones over the counter in a chemist.
