Patriot missiles are strictly defensive. (The message we are sending to Iran is: "Leave us alone.")
The carrier thing happens about every six months. And every six months somebody shows up on Yahoo Answers thinking that a war is about to start.

I do know what is going on on the ground and no amount of flag waving or patriotic propaganda will change the reality that we have long ago lost this war for the hearts and minds of Iraqis. I also know that threatening the Iranians when we have nothing to back up that threat is extremely stupid. I know all this because I lived in the Persian gulf for 2 years and knew the people and the different tribes quite well. Certianly well enough to say that once a blood feud between tribes starts there is no stopping it. Thus the best thing to do is let the damn fools get it out of there systems. If this means that Iraq becomes three or more countries so be it.

Yes, I always keep an eye on our deployments as an ex-Naval officer... and as Ed Borden pointed out: having two carriers in that region is NOT unusual... having done 7 Persian Gulf deployments (4 on carriers), the carriers do a "turn-over"... you get the 2nd carrier in-theatre prior to sending the other one home !! It's always fun doing the "ceremony"... passing the other carrier and rendering honors (tag-you're-it).
Thank you for correcting yourself on the missile issue... the Patriot system is PURELY defensive... it's an anti-aircraft / anti-missile system. The US military is concerned about the possible threat from Iran & Syria to conduct air-strikes or missile attacks within the region...
And to those who say "Ohhhh, the US is threatening Iran !! boo hoo"... please recall that IRAN was the one who just two months ago held SERIOUS exercises to display their capabilities to conduct the strikes I've suggested.

Yes, I have, and I have commented on these movements for the last couple of weeks. Two carrier groups in one part of the worlds is highly unusual. If I lived in Iran about now I would be packing my bags, clearing out my bank account, and making arrangements for a nice Mediterranean cruise.
These are not war games when the Pentagon ratchet's up it's fire power to this degree. This is serious stuff. I wonder if Harry Reid, Charlie Rangel, Nancy Pelosi and their ilk, are even aware of all the power they have inherited that is being ignored, and the fact that the Bush Administration is going about business, as if they don/t even exist. Well, maybe they don't, or are they simply a paper tiger?

I am in the Middle East now and I can tell you that much of this is turnover. When an aircraft carrier is finishing its time in a given area of responsibility, another one comes into the area and there is double for a couple of weeks. Anyway, patriot missiles currently being put in Iraq are purely defensive weapons. They are no doubt to protect Iraq, U.S. Troops in Iraq and Israel to the west. Also, more and more non-combat troops are being replaced by contractors, those troops are leaving and being replaced by combat troops, this way we get more rifles on the street without congressional approval. Pelosi and her Demonazi party will not stop the war on terror with their demagogery.

You misread.....it's patriot missles we moved to the middle east......they were used to take out scuds.
As for the good news.....people don't like good news..why do you think the news would rather talk about $90 bottled water than the Army doctor taking care of Iraqi kids.

We don't use SCUDs. That's the crap the Russians put out. If anybody needs to be paying attention, it's Iran. I agree, thank God for our military men and women.

The additional troop build-up, wepons build-up,
carrier presence has very little to do with IRAQ.
The USA is posturing for IRAN...If the nut job in IRAN decides not to blink...We will be more prepared to squell the situation.
Iraq is now just a staging area so we can be close to IRAN.

You are correct. And yes it does bother me because I think we will attack Iran soon. Then we WILL be in a war I dont think we can win. In Iraq all the people are poor and the war will in the long run make thier lives better. But the people of Iran are not so poor and they will fight with thier rulers to protect thier country and its rights in the world. The people of Iran beleive they have the right to nuclear power to create the electricity needed to improve thier country.
