I'm trying to figure out which one is healthier and better for you. I've been researching over the internet and they both seem risky. Your opinions will help me decide which one will be better for me and my family. Thanks!

cows milk has all the hormones, unknown drugs and antibiotics. soy in the USA doesn't have all the toxins filtered out like in Japan or China. the americans think it costs to much money and time to do, so they don't.

I'm having the same dilema as well. I think that Organic Cow's milk is probably the safest. Especially for men. Soy Milk contains estrogen and that is something males definitely do not need. Cow's milk has been around for a while so at least it has some sort of track record. Although a spotty one. I think Organic Cow's milk is ok from what I've seen. The problem with non-Organic milk is the pesticides and antibiotics. Who knows what that is doing to us.
Soy Milk is a bit of a mystery. I say go with what we know. Organic Cow's milk.

The possible unknown side effects of soy such as the hormone issue as noted by the other respondents should be taken into account, but there are a few known positive benefits to unsweetened soy milk:

1. Unsweetened soy milk has less carbohydrates than most cows' milk. Consequently, soy milk can be better to reduce weight. Also, insulin levels may be less affected by soy milk over cows' milk.

2. Those having dairy allergies or lactose intolerance will likely be fine on soy milk, but can't tolerate cows' milk. There are several studies that suggest that people develop dairy allergies over time (some suggest this results from regularly drinking cows' milk) and are not aware of it as some of the symptoms appear to be nasal allergies, sinus infections, etc.

3. Soy milk has a much longer shelf life than fresh cows' milk. Although the overall risk is low, soy milk should have a much lower risk of bacterial contamination than fresh cows' milk (even if pasteurized).

Overall, it is a bit of a balancing act to consider which to use. I use soy milk over a high fiber cereal for breakfast several days a week , but other than this, I don't generally drink soy or cows' milk. I use cheese as a source of calcium as I have no cholesterol problems so the cheese fat is OK for me personally, and the cheese I use has much less carbs than cows' milk.

I say soy milk.

Not only is it delicious (I've been drinking it since I can remember - in addition to dairy milk), but from what I know, it has no cholesterol, hormones, or anti-biotics. And because the calcium is within the soybean, manufacturers will add to the milk so that the calcium dissolves in our systems when it hits the stomach acid. Most soy milks have added vitamins and are otherwise quite similar to cow's milk. It's also lower in fat.
And should someone in your family become lactose intolerant, soy milk to the rescue! Plus, it's easy to make. You don't need to buy a cow or anything, you can make it yourself. My mom's been making it for a while now, and you can also use it as an addition in other delicious beverages, such as bubbletea (but this can go for cow's milk too).

I actually can't think of anything risky about either one, but maybe that's because I'm biased and <3 milk, soy or cow's. :]

Edit: Now that I see your edit, you may want to try a Chinatown. I'm up in Canada in a dinky city, but we have a few Asian food markets that carry soy milk, and if all else fails, we're off to Hamilton's Chinese area or Chinatown in Toronto - they have wicked soy milk. *_*

Well, I know the fear of soy is the supposed effect it has on hormones. However, the people of Okinawa eat far more soy than the average American and not only live longer, they have far less incidence of breast cancer.

As far as cows milk, Adults do not need it as much as we think we do. You can eat broccoli and nuts to get your calcium. besides it's dirty! Read this,

Soy milk is not so good, our human bodies don't produce the stuff to properly process and use it. Cow milk is ok, but once it is homogenized and pasturized, it's worse than water. take your pick, unless you have access to clean, sanitary cow milk.
