How many of you parents somehow got stuck doing your child's project. Science, History, etc. I ended up doing the whole thing because my child is clueless about what to do or how. To be honest so am I.

I too know exactly what you mean! I haven't done a whole project for them but have helped quite extensively for the exact same reasons you mention...they are clueless about how to even go about doing it, and I don't mean that in a condescending way towards the child. What I mean is that I agree a lot with what Moonwitch said about the school not teaching the kids HOW to DO a project, step-by-step. It should be taught at school. Then, maybe the kids might actually be able to do a project and feel proud of it.

I know what you mean. I don't think they get enough tuition in school on how to go about finding information and how to format it. They seem to be given a subject heading and then left to their own devices or rather ours (parents). They should be shown step by step the best ways to put a project together as a group within the classroom and then at a later stage given an individual subject to show they have learnt and understood.

Well I can honestly say I have never ended up doing my child's project for them. I have in fact helped them with it. When they don't understand it is my job to teach them. We work together on it, with my guidance. We would go to the library and get all the resources we could about the project. Doing the homework for them teaches them nothing except that maybe the next project you will do for them as well.

And yeah, my dad is a perfectionist too. i think of he's the clarification why i will draw and that i'm a perfectionist to boot lol If there substitute right into a reason i've got been given soo many sturdy grades - it substitute into through fact of my Dad :)

No, I never do my children’s projects. I help, and frankly sometimes I end up helping a lot. But if I just take it over and do it all, then my children learn nothing.
