To build trust in a relationship you have to give the trust. That way it can keep on building. Keep the trust untill proven otherwise.

In a relationship you should do both, give trust and build trust not only while getting to know each other, but all the time. Of course when someone betrays our trust then it diminishes the trust we once had for that person. When this occurs, it is an indication that the relationship is in deep trouble, for without trust how can love survive?

There's a level of trust at the start of a relationship, and over time that gets built up through getting to know each other and the depth of your feelings towards one another. Hopefully, your trust won't be shattered by being proven otherwise.

At the start of a new relationship I don't think there is trust but there's a hope that it will develop, i keep a barrier up until I believe I can trust them to save getting hurt. There's nothing worse than having complete trust and it come shattering when u find out he's either a liar or a cheat!!!!

That is such a difficult one! I say don't trust anyone until they prove themselves trustwothy. However, a friend of mine says the opposite in that you should trust someone until they betray you...I'm not sure which is the best way to be. I suppose if you go into a relationship with your eyes open and a little wary, then if they do hurt you it wouldn't be so much of a shock. I think that trusting someone outright from the start when you don't know them from Adam is a little naive.
So to answer your question, I think trust is something that has to be earned and built upon.

You grow to trust someone it isn't something you can just automatically do. Build a relationship, get to know the person and then when you are truly comfortable with them then you can begin to trust them.

You have to be careful with this one. I wouldn't recommend trusting everyone until they prove otherwise because you will get burned a lot!
Trust has to be built over time based on interaction with someone, so you learn to know they can be trusted.
Just take it slow and be careful about who you put your trust in.

The second one of course. That's what true love and true friendship are all about. Over looking or ignoring the faults and such even when the friendship seems like it's an absolute end just trust eachother no matter what. expect nothing and you wont get hurt either.
