spaghetti and lasagne is easy and most people like it, and its really inexpensive....or you could go ultra casual (especially is the next day is formal, it might be a refreshing break) and do it cook-out style with hamburgers hot dogs chips, etc...that would be really fun and affordable!

A really good reletivily cheap meal is a chicken dish i don't remember the name of it but:
4 Bonless chicken beast
1 can 10 3/4 oz of Cream of chicken soup
1 package Broccili
3/4 cup uncooked Rice
shredded cheese
1 1/3 cup water
this feed 4-6 so you have to double it
mix soup, water, and rice in a baking dish you may need 2 baking dishes. top with chicken
cover and bake at 375 for 45 min or until chicken is fully cooked and rice is done. top with cheese.
Its really good we have it like once a month. and its filling

Fancy and inexpesive:

Cornish hens. Get the really little ones, they look gorgeaus and elegant and they are about 2.50 each.

Sparragus wrapped in bacon

Baby potatoes, peeled and cooked, topped over with a white sauce (mushroom, bernabaise, even white gravy)

Serve in pretty china and sprinkle the plate with freshly chopped parsley.

Dessert: cheesecake decorated with strawberry or cherry topping.

Congrats and good luck

PS/ Lasagna is a mess to serve and might not look pretty on a plate.

Good luck

All depends on what the people like....I have been to some rehearsal dinners where the did a fish fry so if they like seafood thats a good one....Or you can do something simple like bake chicken, 2 to 3 veg., bread, dessert and drinks.

Spaghetti, salads and garlic bread. Instead of using all hamburger meat you could do half turkey meat and half hamburger. Its italian food and most people like that alot.
