Can someone explain the procedure involved in getting a child assesed for severe anger issues. Her school realise there are issues but are doing nothing about the situation other than excluding her and putting her on "dealing with emotions classes".Which involve the child playing uno and snakes and ladders, hardly helpful in my eyes.Do I phone the doctor to have her refered or is there another way to get the child assessed?

take her to the dr's and explain that you want her assesed for whatever reasons and explain why.... In my experience with my brother and nephew you have to keep on and on at the dr till they do something as they often just dismiss it or just offer some pills when they haven't even worked out what they are prescribing for!
good luck and be persistant!!

What is it with schools and not really caring about children now a days? I would take her to the GP/Doctor and get her referred to a specialist to help your daughter otherwise she might fall behind in class if they are not a caring school.
Do you not have a number for the school of governors and raise your concern with them and how the school is not helping your daughter. You can get the number from the school Secretary.
Good luck i hope you can sort this out for your daughter.

If it is a public school, put something in writing to the school that you want your child assessed for learning/emotional disabilities. They have to by law get your child assessed. Then go to the meetings they have for you child, every one!

You have to fight for your children. No one else can be bothered to do it.

Well, it sounds like the school did assess her if she's behavior modification classes. Have you tried personal therapy for her? There's many low cost options out there for her. Call your dr, but there's only so much the school system can do. No matter what the cost, it sounds like she's crying out for help.

If you are in the UK, you generally have to be referred by yourGP before you can see any kind of specialist, so you should make an appointment with him or her and get a referral.
