I electronically filed and the return was accepted. I now see a mistake made with rental income/losses. I rent out 1/2 of my house and pay for all utilities. Instead of putting 1/2 of the utilities paid I put the full amount. How can I ammend this?

You can file an amended return with the IRS and with your state (if your state has income tax). If you deserve a larger refund as a result, the IRS and your state will pay you back with interest- though this will likely take longer than a standard (first) return.

Download the 1040 ammendment form, complete it and mail it in. You can not file an ammendment electronically. It has to be on paper.

File an amended return on Form 1040X. Assuming that you used Tax Cut (Block's software) it's pretty easy; Tax Cut can handle that for you.

H&R Block does have a free Audit Support that cames in with your CD but you need to check that, I would say leave it as it is, and if they start questioning it, use free audit and just say you made a typo

I think you have to re-file completely.

Check the IRS website. It is very helpful
