Good question! The only over-the-counter medicine that works for my son is Children's Claritin 24 hr. All the other "cold" medicines didn't help one bit. Also, I do Saline and Suction to clear out his nasal passages right before nap and bedtime. He hates it, but it does help. Good luck!

If you figure out a sure way to stop it, then patent it quickly, as all 1yo have runny noses. I just have plenty of tissue around for the nose.

And, they do hate those little suction balls. My little one turns into Carl Lewis when I get it out for her nose.

Give them infants tylenol cold (make sure it mentions runny nose) the best thing though, is to use that "sucer" thing they sell for baby's noses. That is actually the best thing. If you get a good one, and clean out your little ones nose, they should be good for a little bit along with the medicine. My daughter used to get them all the time, and that worked best for me, and helped her breathe better when I just sucked it out for her. LOL, sounds gross, but works.

unless you use the suction things just plenty of kleenex at the ready, its that time off year nothing canhelp a kids runny nose apart from keeping them wrapped up in cotton wool in the warm 24/7

since everybody's said almost the same thing, i guess now's the best time to teach your child how to eat fruits. oranges work best! natural vitamin C. give him lotsa liquids too. H20! no ice cream, and lessen sweets. this should help you too, it'll lessen the sugar rush --- no hyperactivity! =D

I use Triaminic. it works really good for my son. You should really ask your doc what's best for your child.
