Milk is an ideal environment for bacterial growth. If it was left out at higher than 41 degrees F for greater than 4 hours, it's no longer fit for human consumption.

It depends on how old the milk was before leaving out. It also depends on whether it was contaminated by someone drinking out of the carton. Smell of it, you can tell if it has soured. If you question it, use it for cooking.

PASTUERIZED milk, if left out unrefridgerated will go putrid and is not fit to drink or use in cooking. RAW milk, meaning *unpastuerized*, if left out unrefridgerated, will go *SOUR*. Its NOT off or putrid and you can drink it like that, if you like the taste, you can make curds and whey, or you can use it in cooking like buttermilk.

You could use it in buttermilk pancakes. or cooking a gravy, but for just drinking or on cereal pitch it. Milk is cheap.

I do it all the time. Smell it to test it. That's how they make cheese! Cows aren't refrigerated and carry around warm milk all the time.
