The office in home deduction is figured on Form 8829. You can deduct a portion of the operating expenses of the home (such as utilities, homeowners insurance, repairs and maintenance). You can also deduct part of the basis (usually your cost) of the home over 39 years.

You can only write off the portion of your house that you use for your business, example a 7 room house and you have 2 rooms used for your business you can write of 28,58% of all home expenses including intrest taxes utilities etc. But this is a good way to hide things as well if you know what I mean Hope this helped a little
