1/4 cup butter, 2 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley, 1 1/2 tsp. fresh basil, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 1 loaf french bread.
Mix the first 4 ingredients and microwave about 30 sec. or till butter is melted. Add cheese.
Split bread and grill or broil split side 2 minutes. Spread with butter mixture and cook another 2 minutes.

There are many varieties you could try:

Put bread in the toaster on low in order to warm the bread. After the bread is warm, add butter and garlic powder and re-toast on low (be careful not to burn).

If you want a more authentic taste, i.e.- fresh garlic instead of garlic powder, try these:

Bake garlic in the oven until brown and soft. Mash the garlic and mix with butter to use as a spread on toast.

Or (a quicker variety): Chop garlic and add with butter to a bowl. Microwave on low for about 25sec. and add to toast.

I take thick sliced Italian bread. Spread generously with butter or margarine. Sprinkle generously with garlic POWDER and little garlic salt. Add shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese and bake at 400 till lightly browned. About 5-10 minutes.
Don't be shy with the butter or garlic.

I just saw a guy on the food channel last night making garlic bread. He took a whole bulb of garlic and cut it off on the fat end where he had several cloves cut open and exposed and he rubbed that on some bread then brushed it with a tiny bit of olive oil and baked it. It looked good, but I haven't tried it yet.

Try the following

Simple garlic bread
1 loaf bread
1 head of garlic, crushed including skins
olive oil
sea salt

Method
1. Take a large loaf of good rustic bread. Crush a head of garlic and place it (skins and all) in the centre of a large piece of tin foil (large enough to encase the loaf).
2. Drizzle with olive oil and season with sea salt.
3. Place the loaf on top of the garlic, fold the foil over to create a parcel, and bake in a hot oven for around five minutes (long enough to allow the garlic flavours to permeate the bread).

OR Quick garlic bread
1 pizza base
2 garlic cloves, peeled
85g/3oz butter
1 tsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tsp cayenne pepper

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 250C/500F/Gas 9.
2. Place the pizza base on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
3. Place the garlic in a food processor and blitz.
4. In a small bowl, combine the garlic and butter. Add the fresh parsley.
5. Remove the pizza base from the oven and spread with the garlic butter. Sprinkle over the cayenne.
6. Return the pizza to the oven for a further minute to melt the butter.
7. Remove the garlic bread from the oven, cut into wedges and serve.

OR Garlic bread
1 medium sized loaf or baguette
1 bulb of smoked or ordinary garlic
salt
olive oil

Method
1. Preheat the oven to its highest temperature. Tear a piece of tin foil.
2. Crush the bulb of garlic and scatter it over the centre of the foil including skins. Season with salt, drizzle with oil and lay the bread on top. Fold the foil around the bread to form a parcel.
3. Place in the oven for 5-10 min

Real garlic bread is made with olive oil..not butter.

Take a few slices of crusty bread. Cut a whole garlic in half and rub on each slice a few times. Brush on a little extra virgin olive oil (good quality) and toast.
