hi, i just want to tell u, I haf the same problem. Sometimes u feel very lonely and think that nothing make sense. The best thing to avoid depression is to do something u like, for example do some kind of sport and then u have no time for thinking about u and your problems. Or try to make new friends and spend most of the time with them. Don t be alone, because then it is getting worse. if u need to talk sometime u can send me an e-mail, and we can talk about it further. have a nice day :)

Although medications, such as SSRI's -are helpful in some cases, others benefit from therapy sessions, group therapy,or help from spirituality. Also realizing that depression is a true illness- not a character flaw or laziness. Some depression is situational or based on certain events, this responds well to therapy, but in the case of a chemical imbalance (such as seratonin or dopamine) meds may be required, at least until the person is out of danger. If the depression is genetic, runs in the family etc.. it is physical. So, that would be like telling a Cancer patient to meditate or go talk to a therapist as a way to treat the cancer. Talk to a professional- there are many treatment modalities now and help is available, in many forms- also on-line support groups and information (avoid the site's where people just dwell or discuss suicide etc..). If suicide is thought of or planned one must get help immediately!!! Good luck

The right and healthy way that you seek comes with medical treatment.

When you break your arm, do you just hope that it will heal ok without Dr. care? Or do you go and get help so that you will heal the "right and healthy way"?

This is not a problem of lack of will power, or laziness, or any other poor behavior. This is a chemical in your brain that is off balance. With the wrong chemical mix you can't be happy, it's not available to you. Rather like trying to reach the top of a tree branch. You can get there but you need a ladder.

Some folks are lucky to be born and develop with all things in great order. They are attractive, healthy and all is well. But more often than not each one of us has something that requires some help to be at our best. There is no, or should be no judgement in that. Get the help that you need and all will be well.

Generally speaking, the longer you wait for treatment the harder it is to fix, just like a broken arm. Sooner is always better.

Best of luck,

Hi,
It is really depress when u leave your lovely home town and go to the other place. Worry, anxiety, depression and sadness is always in your heart. The most simple solution to the depression is to find something that is more enjoy and interesting so that you won't feel alone when you are away from your home town. Know some new friend, go through some activity, do have some entertainment and joy can let you set yourself to exciting mode rather than depression mode. Have a nice day. Don't make your depression become your obstacle to do something more meaningful.

Talk to your doctor and give in to taking some medication. You'll be surprised how much it will help you. Try to stay busy, eat smart, exercise daily, and get the proper amount of sleep. You need to make a trip to the pet store and replace your puppy. True friends are just a phone call away and you can always make new friends. Open up and let new people get to know you and likewise you'll learn about them. Lot of luck...

You are obviously going through a transitional phase, and things are at a Low ebb!.
Moving and loosing friends is always worse at you age!
You are doing the right thing by avoiding medication!
Have you thought of seeking out someone to talk to?,maybe that may alleviate your Burdened mind.
Alternatively is there something going on in your community that you can join in?
Hope something there helps!
Hope you feel better sooner!

Getting depressed is an alarm mechanism of our spirit that warns us that we must find the purpose of our life. No amount of Valium or any other kind of medication can help us unless we find the reason for our existence.
The reality of man is spiritual, not material. So even thou we may have all the material comfort in the world, our spirit is not satisfied until we find the purpose of our life on earth.
A good example is to look at the activities of the richest man on earth, Bill Gates. We can see that despite all his riches he is engaged in specific activities that give a real meaning to his life. This is not to deny that his work activity as owner of a giant software company is not highly important too.

Exercise can reduce depression for many people and it would be a good thing for you to try. It would be best if you could work out at least 3 or 4 times a week.
Perhaps you could try out for a sport at school or join a gym.
If you are unable to do it or it doesn't work for you, talk to your parents or teacher or counselor about what you are experiencing and ask for help

I was watching on the health channel that People who suffered from epilepsy would get some kind of Nerve stimulator to fewer the seizures.

It seemed to make them happier so they tested it on people who had severe or mild depression and it worked right away and theit happieness level was brought up a lot.

You might want to look into that.

it's a very rough age group you are in...regardless you will probably feel better after awhile. BUT until then...meds and therapuetic support would help. it's good you have identified what you are feeling as depression instead of acting out like many people your age would. you have a lot of insight and that will help.
get some help...see your family doctor and ask what to do next or call your local mental health agency.
