It's liking someone more than you like yourself.

The Greeks had three words for love, which made for less confusion that we have.

Roughly their words are eros, philos and agape and help define the concept better than using just the one word which we have.

Eros was about the sexual love between two people (we get our word erotic from it - obviously) and that was about not just the sex but the affection generated by the relationship.

Philos was about brotherly or sisterly love - it was companionship, fellowship, comradeship that sort of thing. It is something you share with your mates and friends and evokes the loyalties and ties therein.

Agape was about self sacrificial love. Putting the other person first. Making sacrifices - forgiving being patient, kind, forgiving etc. There is a passage about agape love in The Bible in I Corinthians 13 - it is often read at weddings.

So it all depends what sort of love you are talking about.

Being "in love" is about the magnetism between two people and would I guess contain initially elements of eros and philos. Yes it is a psychological and physiological mechanism, but it is one that we live. However whether that love develops to the higher ideal that many believe a relationship should - i.e. to agape is another matter.

Some relationships start off well with plenty of eros, but fail because there is no agape.

I believe a relationship with a partner, to be healthy should have all the three types of love I have outlined.

Does this help?

Love is not being able to stop thinking about someone. Caring for them whole heartedly. Feeling like you can spend the rest of your live with them no matter what flaws they may have. Love is like riding a never ending rollercoaster. It will take you up and down many times, but just stick with it because it can be the ride of your life!

But most importantly you have to remember love is more than just a feeling, its also something you learn. So many people forget that part and take the easy route out when things get tough.

There are different kinds of love.

You can LOVE somebody or BE IN LOVE with someone.

LOVE:Is something you feel for your parents, children, friends, pets and so on

To BE IN LOVE: Is to respect, enjoy being with, want to have sexual relations with, to be with that person for the rest of your life, no matter what life throws at you. Someone you want to set up home with and be with unconditionally.

There is a fine line between love and being in love with someone. You have to think carefully about which one of the two your are feeling.

Good Luck

Love is sharing moments with someone special to you.
Love is the searing pain when you lose someone close to you.
Love is like the wind you can't see but you can feel it.
Love is anger when you can't have your way.
Love is saying things you never thought you'd say.
Love is what makes the world go round.
Love is supporting family, friends, and the family hound
Love is holding your new born child.
Loves is repeating that number you have so many times, dialed.
Love is me.
Love is you.
Love is something that we do..

An intense feeling of attraction to a person. Theres different types of love though. Theres the type you feel for your children which i think is unconditional love and then theres the love you feel for your partner. Both are equally strong though

Love is wanting to be with someone all the time, wondering what they are doing, what they are thinking, thinking about them constantly, listening to a song on the radio and it makes you think about them. Everytime you recieve a text or call from them your heart skips a beat. Looking into their eyes and just being content to be with them. Thinking about them 24/7.

I think that love is when espcially when you break up and everytime you wake up and you think about them, or you have them at the back of your head. You can't get that person off your mind even if you try!

its a chemical reaction in your brain that releases potent endorphines whenever you think of or meet up with someone in particular.it is as addictive as mild drugs and some people actually crave for the feeling of being in love.

love is being able to stand a person no matter what their faults are, its one of those things thats unconditional, it goes without saying. You tend to do things for the people you love without actually having anything in return.....its being able to forgive people
