Immigrated means moving into a country. (Latin "in" meaning "in" and migrare "to travel" or "migrate").

Emigrated means leaving a country. I would argue that it is also correct, but it gives a different slant. The speaker is not looking back at the country he has left so much as looking at his situation in the country of adoption, the country he has moved to. If he says that he has emigrated from England, his sights are still fixed on England and he regards himself as an exile. If he says "immigrated", it means that he has a positive view of the new country, as an immigrant.

Migrated is usually used for birds and animals which change countries at certain seasons of the year.

Transmigrated refers to moving from one region to another and settling there. "Trans" means across, so this (to me) has the feeling of moving across borders. If this is correct, then it is not suitable for moving anywhere overseas, as the presence of water complicates the movement.

To migrate is to make such a move either once or repeatedly: to migrate from Ireland to the United States.
To transmigrate is to migrate from one country to another in order to settle there.
To emigrate is to leave a country, usually one's own (and take up residence in another): Each year many people emigrate from Europe.
To immigrate is to enter and settle in a country not one's own: There are many inducements to immigrate to South America

So the correct answer for the question should actually be #3, emigrated. One emigrates FROM a country, and immigrates TO one.
