Can anyone tell me what the natural predators are for Southeastern US songbirds...Bluejays, Cardinals, Finches, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, just to name a few.

I mean, they're always flying around way up high in the treetops...I can't think of any predators who share the same treetop habitat as songbirds.

Thanks for help!

hawks, and kestrals, kites, while they are on the ground...small mammals...and believe it or not, some frogs have been known to eat hummingbirds!

I'm not totally sure if Hawks or Kestrels (sp?) will prey on songbirds, but I do know that the common house cat is a predator. In some areas, feral cats (house cats gone wild) are threatening the populations of certain birds.

Cats, hawks, snakes, squirrels will raid nests and eat eggs and hatchlings, crows will eat hatchling birds, my father rescued a ruby throated hummingbird from a spider web once, I've seen footage of bullfrogs eating finches as they come to the water for drinks...... I'm sure I can think of more if I try....
