You ask the question that has been around of centuries. Romeo and Juliet, Arthur and Guinevere, Marc Antoni and Cleopatra, Trystan and Isole (or whatever!)
Usually it is just tough luck, unless you both really, really love them and are willing to make some sacrifices. I only wish you has said why you could't be together.
The normal reasons are:
Distance
Sexuality
Money
Family
Religion

The biggest things you do in your life start with the smallest steps.
If it is any of the above, think of those before you, and how they succeded!
Hope this helps!

Why can't you be together...need more info but if you both love each other then no.

Unrequited love is very common and has been around since before Shakespeare's time. And while the 19th century poets may have made it sound romantic, the problem with this situation is that it can quickly turn into an obsession if you're not careful. Most people are programmed to want what they can't have (also known as 'the grass is greener on the other side' syndrome). By simply being denied someone's love, they can form feelings of attachment, which can turn into an obsession if left uncontrolled. Another problem with unrequited love is that it can quickly become more of a challenge than a real emotion. Being rejected can rob someone of his ego, and in turn, this person may try to prove that he is worthy of love. On the other hand, if you feel strongly attached to someone because you respect and admire who they are, you may actually be in love.

Unrequited love is when you love someone and they DON'T love you.

For most people being in unrequited love is a tortuous experience. For them too, however, it can simultaneously be a source of great joy, sometimes providing the lover a sense of fulfillment for having somebody to love, even though that love is not returned. The lover may feel this satisfaction is worth the emotional distress they must suffer. They may prefer to stay in love rather than move on.

Unrequited needs to be distinguished from unconsummated. The latter means you have not had sex together. Unrequited means only one of the two parties is in love. So if it's mutual, it is not unrequited. Think of it as an old-fashioned term for "unreturned."

Unrequited love means that you love someone and they don't love you in return. Perhaps a better term for this situation is forbidden love.

Thats what makes the theme of tragic love.Thats the classic plot line for tragic love stories.Actually this cant be together thing at times gives fuel to the passion between both people because the pain of not being able to be together further enhances the feelings and makes the love unforgettable. In our language its called "Ishq Ki Tashnigi",meaning the "the pain of separation in love ".Its a very powerful emotion and lots of stories have been written about it its this "Ishq ki tashnigi" which at times immortalizes love stories.

NO. Unrequited love is when one person is in love but the object of his/her affection does not return the feelings.

Unrequited means not mutual!
Why aren't you together? Distance or he is married? I think we can always find ways to be with the people we love, unless we hurt third peoples feelings!

Unrequited love is one way love. What you are suffering from is simply called frustration.
Will Love always find a way? I wish that were true. Good luck anyway.
