is there any free software that allows you to add colour to black and white photographs? Thanks

if u are using window then go to program / Accessories/paint/image /invertcolor

One way to do this is to take a color picture and then use a photo editor (such as Adobe or ArcSoft) and layer your pic, desaturating one of the layers) you then just slowly erase some of the black and white parts where you want it to be color. Be patient though-- this is a slow process and can get tricky around small edges and such. Check out the link below-- it has some helpful advice on this matter specificially, but also on photography in general.

Felt tip pens mean you can colour anything you want, including black and white pictures, but they can make a mess of your hands!

Free software, but not simple to use is Gimp:

It's free and has almost all the editing powers of Adobe Photoshop
