There is no requirement that the Pope has to be a virgin. When a man becomes a priest, he takes a vow of celibacy, which means he vows to not have sex from that point forward.

If a man was married and his wife died, he can then become a priest even though he would not be a virgin.

As it applies to the present Pope, does it really matter if he has sex before he became a priest?

Peace!
Virgin in what sense? Sex? Of course. When he became a priest he took a vow of celibacy. He would not be a Pope if he violated that vow.

I do. He took a vow of celibracy when entering the holy orders. I have never read anything that stated he was married before then, so I believe he is still a virgin.

haha he might have done something before becoming a priest but we will never know so we must ask the man if we want to know. GREAT question!

No, you swear an oath of celibacy when you enter the priesthood, not a statement that you've been celibate all your life.
