Most likly situation is they will send and engineer out to hook one of them up and it would be up to urself to sort out the others. If one of the previous lines is BT there shouldnt be any charge for the work.

I would ring Bt and ask them to activate a line in your flat, once the line is activated then you will have a dial tone. They can do this with in a few hours. Ring 0800 800 150 its a free number and they will help you with this. Your flat could have been used as a small business and that is why there are so many connections in your flat.

if it is a newley built house then a engineer will need to come out, thay may be a installation charge of £124.99 because the service has never been conected, bt do offer a monthly payment plan to break that charge, the sockets that are there at the moment may have be pre fitted when the flat was built if so the charge will still apply. if this is the case its gonna be a 12month term if u cancel during that time they will be a cancellation charge of £18.once the phone line up and running the line rental is £11a month by direct debit add a £1without,save 25p by paperfree billing!!!

That's a lot of sockets for one flat! I recently moved into a new flat (with only 2 sockets...!) - give BT a ring and they'll send an engineer out and sort it all out for you. Explain about the big white box as well.

if a line is already to that flat all they do is activate the line from the exchange reason for so many sockets Internet connections or flat used for place of work

i had the same problem with just 2 sockets in my flat and bt insisted there was no problem and eventually they came out and it turned out that there was a problem and i did not pay for the call-out.
just cross your fingers that there is nothing wrong and double check each socket before making the appointment

dont know why there are so many sockets, i have quite a large apartment and it only has one, but they should not need to come out if there is already a connection it just needs to be activiated
