in most states you have to be 16 to purchase an air rifle/pistol. 18 for a shotgun rifle and ammo, and 21 for a handgun and handgun ammo.

with proper adult supervision a child can begin to learn how to use a gun as early as he can understand it, its up to the parent to determine that. i should also say that it also depends on the education level of the parent pertaining to using a gun. if the parent doesn't know anything about guns then he shouldn't be supervising a child with one either. but the bottom line is that there is no set age to use an air rifle, only an unspoken rule that says only those with a proper level of competence should use a firearm of any kind. that goes for either a child or adult.

My grandfather gave me a .22 when I was 4 years old, so while it varies with each kid, if you think you can trust him, a 4 year old can use an air rifle with proper supervision.
I'm 43 now and still have the .22 my grandfather gave me.

That would depend on the individual. I had my first air rifle at age 8. But my dad since the day I was born has stressed the importance of gun safety. They need to be old enough to read the safety booklet and for their parents to feel comfortable with them handling it. I wasn't allowed to be by myself with any gun until I was 14.

any age as long as you can c.o.c.k it! I had my first gun when I was 5! Just bought my nephew a Red Rider and he is only 4. It's up to the parents to make sure of a safe surrounding.

With proper adult supervision, 10 i would say. I recommend you buying the rifle with your child present and tell the child it is for yourself. Then with him , teach him the proper ways to handle a weapon and keep the gun or any guns in a locked cabinet. If he wants to shoot , then shoot with him and make him act responsibly. when he is capable to have the gun for himself (upon your discretion) give him the gun. As he learns tell him that when he acts responsible enough, you will give him the gun.
My middle son took his first turkey at 12, he shoot a big Tom with a 12 in beard at 13!

there is not any criminal age to very own one, yet you're able to be sixteen to hold one interior the line. ideally in a case to make it criminal. you may extremely in all probability get finished wearing one brazenly as this might seem as achieveable to the ordinary public. in case you're under sixteen, get your dad to hold it for you so as which you would be able to bypass to a quiet spot and slaughter a number of God's creatures

As soon as they can hold it up, physically. Different states have different regualtions on age. Where I live, the age limit is 10, but that is just to purcahse the rifle.
