Any new migrants recently migrated to Oz as permanent residents?

Hi - anyone out there recently migrated to Oz as a perm res? Wanted to know how you are finding everything? Was it easy to find work etc? I am planning on migrating and cant wait.....

G'day,

I came as permanent resident almost 10yrs ago. I did not get much problems in getting a job in Oz since my previous workplace had some contacts in Oz and I was able to secure a job even before landed here. You may want to try the same trick.
Depending on your experience, skills, qualifications and language skill (sorry, I dunno where you come from), sometimes it is abit hard to get a job in a short time if you got no "connections". I remember that it took my brother almost 3mths to get a job after he arrived. So again... depends on you luck.

You may find things a bit hard in the beginning, and homesick can make things a bit worse. However do not worry. Most Australians are immigrants as well, so there will be plenty of support and understanding from your surroundings.

I'm just about to migrate. I've recently received my Permanent Resident's Visa and will fly over as soon as I sort out things back in my country (Venezuela). For what I've seen and the information from a friend who's been living in Melbourne since 2.005, there are plenty of work opportunities for professionals. In my field (Civil Engineering) there are lots of jobs. There´s a high quality of living in every respect, and that´s what I'm aiming for.

you will love living in australia, with your attitude you'll have a job within a day after arriving. people here are friendly helpful and once you come here you never want to leave.

NO
