Superfunk, you clearly haven't used Vista, you have no right to an opinion. Months before drivers... okay, then how come ALL my hardware worked after I installed Vista, ALL OF IT, I had only two issues which I applied XP drivers to, which worked. So until you've installed Vista, keep your mouth shut.
Now then, to answer the question, it should have been installed with Vista, it should have just worked. I don't know why it didn't BUT since it didn't go to Control Panel > Windows Update and see if it can locate a driver for it. Or go to Intel if that doesn't work and see if they have a driver. I bet they do. nvidia does, ATi does, Creative does... just about everyone has some form of Vista driver out and if they don't, try using the XP drives, some will work, some won't but mine did.

Good luck - you shouldn't have installed Vista,
It'll be months before a lot of hardware has Vista drivers - if ever.
Have fun using up 1Gig of Ram just to boot your computer.
