I read my child's diary and she claims to be prostituting herself?

She is only 12 and I do let her out late but I don't want her to know I've been looking in her diary in the first place. What should I do? I don't want to ruin my relationship with her. But I hate to think she's a whore slut like this.

You actually CARE if she knows you read her diary when she is prostituting herself? Your relationship will be far more ruined if you do nothing. You let a TWELVE YEAR OLD OUT LATE??? What the hell is wrong with you. You have failed your child miserably. Get her into counciling and take a long hard look at your parenting choices and rules. You want her to come home pregnant or with AIDS? That's what is going to happen if she continues on this path.

Not only would my child know I read the diary, they'd have some SERIOUS consequences.

Even if she just put it in her diary as a joke, she must have some sort of issues because my 11 yr old doesn't know anything about prostituting.

This isn't the type of problem the Brady Bunch kids faced.. Prostitution, at twelve? Ma'm, you have done a horrible job, and this forum will not help you. I hope this is a joke, or at least that you are mistaken about what you read... How in the world do you let a 12 y/o out "late"... If this is true Social Services should step in. You should not read her diary... If you do, apologize and then talk about what you read.. But apologize... This problem is not a Yahoo problem, though.

First let me say you should not be reading your daughter's diary.Maybe she suspects you are invading her privacy and she is setting a trap for you. Secondly you should have an age appropriate time for your daughter to be hme,afterall she is still only 12 years old.If you want to continue your relationship with your daughter she needs to know that you are her parent not her pal.You should never call your daughter a whore. I don't know if the diary content is fact or fiction .Don't be angry, keep in mind who breached the trust. If you haven't had the birds and bees talk I would get on the topic as soon as possible. Try not to be judgemental when you discuss this issue.

BE A PARENT NOT A FRIEND. Why do you allow a 12 year old out of the house by herself at night? M-F are school days. She should be home doing her homework or studying, eating dinner with you, watching some tv and going to bed. What is so hard about that. Unless she is playing on a sports team or something she should be at home with you where who can watch her. She can have friends over if you are present, but being out and about after dark is wrong. You have lost control so you need to stop her world and reel her back in.

1) I wrote several things in my diary when i was 12 that were not true. I was trying on daring roles, i think.

2) Your daughter shouldn't be out late. What's with that?

At 12, after she washes the dishes and helps get the house straightened for tomorrow, you should be spending the evening reading with her, or playing board or card games, or otherwise hanging out.

You are treating her like she's 18. That's really sad. For her.

If this is true you need to act like a parent. You don't want to ruin your relationship with her? But it's ok to go out and have sex so long as you and her get along ok? Who cares if she knows you looked in her diary? Jesus Christ if this is true [and I do have some doubts and hopes that it's not] YOU need to grow up and do your job. ok first of all..i am 12 and i have to be home at dark!!! you are reading your daughters diary...that is a complete invasion of trust...but if she is writing things like that then you need to talk to her!!! she could get a std or get pregnant or get killed!!! do something before something bad happenes to her...and what bothered me the most was you calling her a whore...i mean you dont even know if this is true...i know when i used to write in my diary i would write terrible things just to prove to my parents that they dont trust me because i knew that they would read my diary...it sounds to me like you need parenting classes..i know a lot more about sex and topics related to that but i never once thought of being a prosti!!!

Oh my gosh. Get her help and she is your child not your mother, If you let her keep on she could ruin her life with an unwamted pregnancy, aids, std's, etc. How could you even think of ignoring what you have found out? Who cares if she knows you read her diary-she is 12. Help her!!! Now!!!

you read it so now you have to do something about it. AREYOU KIDDING ME? why are you asking this of a bunch of random people! YOU have to talk with her. and That is so not nice to call your child! Take some responsiblity it is your fault you are a terrible parent! You are her mother first, and in this case I would not care what she thought. Something lead you to the diary and you read it and she needs to be taken to counseling, you can do appologies later.This is serious and there is no way around not telling her you read her diary. You are mother and daughter and you will get through this.
