not a good idea, he may not be getting all he needs, you should put it in dropper or med spoon, lay him down, put meds in back left of mouth, they have to swallow it, it is not too pleasant but only takes a minute, this is how docs and nurses do it, it is SO important that they get the antibiotic, if it is prescibed then they have an ailment that requires it good luck remember you are making your child well

DO NOT give him the medicine in the bottle. If he doesn't finish the bottle, he doesn't get the whole dose!

At the pharmacy, you can get a dosing syringe. Use it to shoot the medicine into his cheek so he swallows it.

Worst case senario - hold his mouth open, drop the medicine in there and shut his mouth. He's a year old. If you cater to him this way now, what's going to happen when he's 7 or 8?

Sometimes they do not finish the bottle. Taht means they are not getting the entire dose. Not good.

I prefer to just give the complete dose as a medicine. If your son does not open his mouth, lay him down, blow on his nose and quickly put medicine in his mouth.

Just do what ever you can. I'm having to find all sorts of crazy ways lately. If he has taken to getting it from a bottle, they have medicine dispensers with a nipple on them that resemble a tiny bottle. Try it, it might work!

yes, it is very difficult to give kids medicine. if it's in liquid form, try mixing it with his formula or his food (like mashed potatoes). make sure you're giving the right dosage. now if your child is a little older (like 6) and needs to take tablets or pills for medication, ask him to eat a banana, chew it, and just when he's about to swallow, let him pop the pill and swallow it all together (ask him to drink if he has a hard time pushing). he'll think about the banana instead of the medicine. that's how i learned =D hehehe

Pharmacists supply a free medicine syringe for this type of issue, just ask them for one. My son took to this well, I just kinda squirted it to the back of his mouth. Most pharmacies now provide different flavors to add to medicine... I'd have to say that bubble gum is always the best! Hope this helped for you. Good Luck.

If he has troubles taking it giving them to him in his bottle is fine. I have to mix my 2 1/2 year old's in with milk, its better than him screaming and fighting and spitting half of it out.

Antibiotics, means against life. Is that what you want to give him? Isn't there a better way? What are his symptoms that you feel the need to medicate him with some alien molecule?
