after switching the computer on it looks like its going to load, it displays the main windows screen then switches back to the black start up screen, displaying a win error, it will not let me go past this, i have tried loading the windows 98 disc but that doesnt do anything, and it always goes back to the black screen with the error message on, can someone please help?????

(ANS) YES! I'm an old windows 98 veteran, this sounds like you might have a damaged windows98 registry or you have some damaged, missing or corrupted system files.
A) You need a windows98 start up floppy disk, this will allow you to boot the system and then to either try and run win98 in safe mode which is a diagnostic mode. To try and find out what the problem is.
**An internet search should find you a site from which you can create a windows98 boot floppy. Try using the key words "windows98 boot floppy" that should do it.
B) This could be a driver problem, a driver required by win98 is failing to load up correctly again this could be related to the windows registry.
C) It might be possible to run a repair of windows from the win98 CD disk
**I think your best option is to re-install from CD or run a repair from the orginial CD disk that windows came on. You can re-install win98 over the top of the previous version (copy) and any missing or damaged files should be replaced or over written.
