Has anyone had any experience with a 25c Radio Operator in an Infantry unit? My recruiter said they go into the field with the Infantry, but another guy online said he was a 11B and they carried their own radios, and only had a Medic with them as a non-infantry MOS. Can anyone clear this up for me?

I have never seen a 25C down in an actual Infantry company. At best, they may be at the battalion level. To be honest, in all my years working in the Infantry, I've never seen a 25C with them. They are usually with the Signal Battalions. The only ones that I know of that may be down in a line unit is with LRRS units and Special Operations (though to get to these type of units is very hard).

If you are looking for a Signal MOS that actively works with the Infantry, 25U is your best bet. Every Infantry company typically has a 25U assigned to it for signal support. Many times they will also act as an RTO for the company commander. Additionally they are in charge of training the Infantry platoon RTO's.

Keep in mind that 25U's can go to any kind of unit. It's quite possible to never end up with the Infantry as one. To increase your odds, volunteer for Airborne school, or better yet for RIP.

Feel free to email me regarding this.

A 25c goes with infantry but on a battalion level. Inststead of patrolling, scouting etc. a 25c is back at the headquarters monitoring the radio.

This may be dated info but in my day the 91B medic was the only non 11B in an infantry outfit. Now this does not count forward observers for support units such as Artillery or Air Force who often have their own communications.

on your BCT (uncomplicated try against education), you would be assigned to a identity unit interior ft Benning. possibly 247 or 347. Your AIT (superior Indiviual education) would be at ft Gordan. you will considered 15 or so weeks there to end your education. we are try against "type" of MOS in spite of the undeniable fact that it genuinely relies upon on your unit you would be assigned too. --SGT Lynch, 25C
