no- but if you keep having recurring depression, you definetely want to talk to your doc. I was on Lexapro for a while, and that did absolutely NOTHING. now, i am on lamictal, and everything has changed and I feel awesome. Also, for me, it may seem sad, but once I didn't feel depressed anymore, since it was like two years that I was depressed, it was very hard for me to learn to not have it. It was like I was uncomfortable not having it anymore. Hope this helps!

If you are talking about substance abuse/additction, then yes.... they go hand in hand... it's like you can't get control over your addiction which makes you depressed... I don't think there is a specific name for it. Good luck...
