I only got "you can love a rich man just as easy as you can love a poor man" to "make him pay for everything", and "never trust a man".
I'm thinking that maybe I don't know how to be in a relationship as well as some girls because I never had anyone to give me positive advice...

She told me to "treat him like a king and he will treat you like his queen" she also warned me to, "choose your battles wisely"
She is a very wise and loving woman. If I have half of these attributes, I am a very lucky woman. : )
They have been happily married for 54 years. She must be doing something right!
Treat your man as a treasure and don't forget to have your needs met as well. Good luck! : )

Make him work for it..you'll be more valuable in the short and long run. I think that was the best advice I ever got about not being "easy". I have toadmit it wasn't from my mother but my older brother.

I gave this to you however because I think it rings true.
One of my mom's would be "second doubt your heart, but not your brains" Which basically means if you can logically firgure out why a relationship is wrong or right then rely on that and not your heart and emotions.

Good luck..and keep those..if you were a friend of mine ..my mom would have told you the same thing she warned all of us constanly in highschool. ;-P

Yeah, you got SERIOUSLY shortchanged in that department. What she should have told you is to require that any guys in your life respect your body, your mind (and your ideas), your wishes, and your desires. That's a start. And the "never trust a man" is a terrible thing to teach. That should be "never trust a man without verifying that he is trustworthy".
BTW, as a general rule, we don't do a very good job teaching our kids how to select partners and be a good partner in relationships. And that includes life long partners as well as friends.
