Yeah maybe. How long has the online chat been?? What about getting a web cam then at least you can be sure they are who they say they are and that also makes it a bit real rather than words on a screen.
I would probably suggest that he comes to see you first.
Then if things go well love has no distance or boundaries!! good luck sweetheart x

First be aware that online dating CAN be dangerous. No matter whether overseas or in the USA. I did meet that special someone online 4 years ago and we married. We actually lived less than 30 miles from each other. You really have to be VERY CAREFUL. Can't stress that enough! Bad people use the internet for MANY bad things. At the time it looks innocent and sweet, only to find out later, it was someone up to no good. It also seems Foreign Countries are notorious for scams. We sell on ebay and have had several "foreigners" try to scam us. Everything will seem legit until you really check into things thoroughly. Same goes with relationships. How can you ever really get to know this person "long distance" you are only seeing one side of them (the side hidden behind a screen) and its always a good side and very great to know, BUT, what is the real person like. Everyone knows most people have 2 personalities when online. The personality that you live with 24-7 and the internet personality which can make you the person that everyone wants to be. Online you can be rich, you can have any occupation you desire, you can live any place you desire and you can make people believe what they want to. BUT, in reality it goes back to how well can you actually come to know a person "long distance"? Be careful would be my best advice. VERY careful. I also would advice this for any age person, since you didn't specify any ages.

No definetly not, I would keep on chatting to them on line for quite a while, I have had several people contact me who live on the other side of the world, yeah they try to woo you, but eventually the ones who are only after money get found out.
If you think this person is genuine enough, keep on chatting, I know several people who have fantastic relationships from someone they met on the net from overseas and did eventually after a long period of time i.e. 6 months of chatting go over and meet them or vise versa. A period of time will tell u if this person is true or not, keep the emails, contact and read over every now & then, make sure their story stays the same and doesn't vary considerably (then u know they are just liars and not worth ever contacting again. GOOD LUCK

You need to be more specific - How long have you been chatting and how well do you know them ?
Trust your instincts, but be safe - remember you can be anyone when you are online.
personally I would never go, but I always err on the side of cautious and worry about everything!!

Already done it and it worked out great for us both. And if it didn't work out, well you've possibly made a new friend and experienced a bit of life another country.

it would depend on rather there was an interest...meeting someone on line and wanting to meet them needs to be taken very serious...you need to know your surroundings.... play it safe and be smart...to many weirdo's out there.
