The best cat is a free cat. You end up paying for their food,neutering/spaying,cat litter and shots-not to mention all those cute cat toys, flea collars, pretty collars and treats. It's an investment I don't mind though, I just never had to pay for one.

costs about $20-$40 at an animal shelter. if the cat hasn't been spayed or neutered they will ask for a deposit that you will get back after you get the cat spayed/neutered. they will also give them some of their vaccinations and will microchip the cat for you it's like $10. But highly worth it. at the shelter I work at there was a dog that was recently brought in as a stray and they scanned it for a microchip and they were able to contact the owner and get the dog back to them. cat's are escape artists and may get outside and if it gets out and gets picked up you guys can be reunited.

Look in your local paper, cats are constantly given away to a good home, meaning they are free. Just do your homework, so you know how to care for a cat. They are very independant, but there are some things that are important, like health, diet, and grooming. An indoor cat lives a healthier longer life than an outdoor cat as well.

I've had a few cats, and never once paid for one. There are always people giving away kittens.
If you can't find anyone though - then the shelter suggestion is a good idea. The money you are paying them is usually used to give the cat its shots and spay/neuter it.
If you HAVE to have a certain breed, then you will have to pay what the market bears.

I found mine on http://petfinder.com . Their adoption fee was $80 for the first and $40 for the second. The fee including spaying/neutering as well vaccinations and other medical treatment.
It does depend on the shelter though. If I would have gotten them from a shelter in the area my parents live in, the fee was higher. Some people on petfinder aren't shelters and they will give cats away.
You should check it out, it's a nice site and you can search by location, age, gender, etc.

Hi, it depends if you are looking for a pedigree or just a "Moggy", you can normally pick up a moggy from a shelter for about $50 - or like us you can choose to get a breed which has it's advantages such as health, temperament etc - we now have 2 great Burmese cat's and they $500 each - well worth it....good luck....

I observed my cat from a community animal 'foster abode' while i became right into a pupil and approximately 21 myself - approximately 9 years in the past now. I lived in a shared abode on the time and wasn't an exceptionally in charge man or woman. yet having to guard the cat helped me to guard myself, i think the accountability did me stable! I had continually enjoyed cats and that i observed a very grown grownup cat she became into approximately 6 - i wished a companion cat. it somewhat is often extra durable for grownup cats to detect properties as all people needs kittens that are surely difficult paintings. She became into very timid in the initiating and does no longer bypass away my room no longer to point out bypass exterior yet as she have been given to understand me she began to have confidence me. it somewhat is the genuine exhilaration of possessing a cat, as quickly because it enables you to get to comprehend it in spite of if some cats in no way will! I now have a effective occupation, my own abode and the comparable cat who has been with me by way of 4 distinctive properties, many distinctive abode pals and who now will leap into strangers laps while they arrive to the abode! that's not high priced to guard a cat yet vets might nicely be high priced. in spite of if in my adventure it became into even low-priced as a pupil and there became into continually money aside for the cat - in simple terms in case. in spite of if the biggest might desire to is which you somewhat go with that cat and could proceed to guard it for possibly as much as twenty years. yet once you alter into owned by employing a cat you've gotten not have been given any determination in the subject besides!

you have to go through a lot to get it from a pet store or rescue center...look for the "free" kitten signs that are up in your neighborhood. oe ones for about 10 bucks and talk to your local pet stores and see when they run their clinics or if they do (animart does) where you can get all the first year shots for 10.00 and get them spayed/neutered for like 15-20 bucks vrs. 60-100 saves a lot of money.!!! go for and good luck

Go to petfinder.com they have a huge selection. They can be as low as $15 on up depending on what you are looking for.
Shelter pets need a home more than breeders or pet stores need your money. Save a life and adopt a pet.

well that depends on the store but cats are cheaper than dogs usually but in petsmart they are about 75 dollars and some other stores are cheaper and some are more expensive but sometimes the cheaper ones are male or they dont have all their shots or something like that so choose wisely on your kitty GOOD LUCK...
