The following is from FSTDT It is a true look into the trials & tribulations of todays fundamentalist Christian

"Just recently my son Bobby came out to me. I had been worried for awhile. His teachers said most of his grades were slipping and he seemed depressed and withdrawn.

Bobby said he'd been hiding it for awhile because he was afraid I would reject him. I sat him down and told him that I loved him and that God loved him, but that his salvation was in danger if he did not resist his unnatural tempations. I told him how being gay would mean he would live a shorter life, and that if he couldnt change his orientation he could be celibate like most the ex-gays are. He started crying saying something along the lines of "I knew you wouldnt understand! You're just like everyone else!" before running to his room and slamming the door.

What did I do wrong? I dont want to lose my son, but I fear I already have. I talked it over with his therapist, who had the ludicrous idea that homosexuality was unchangable and that trying to repress could lead to lots of psychological damage (I've dropped him and will try to be finding another therapist with more moral beliefs). I wouldnt be surprised if he's the one who's feeding my son all the homosexual propaganda about how its 'ok' to be gay. That, or how homosexuality has engulfed the media, making it seem 'cool' and 'hip' and how they were just another oppressed minority. You didnt have to worry about seeing two men making out on tv at my age! I dont want to sound like a fanatic, but Im worried what other effects will come out of this increasingly secular, immoral society obsessed with filth.

Am I too late? Or is it possible to save my son

The boy later took his own life. How does this make you feel?

Any story that ends in suicide is a sad one.

On a random note, it's interesting to see how men and women read this story differently. When I read it I assumed it was the mother talking, when Leviathan read it, he assumed it was the dad.

What amazes me is how you always find a minority of instances to represent a whole group of people. I am a christian. I have a son, he is not gay. I have a God son who is. I told him when he came out to me (first because he knew as a christian I would love him and not judge him) that Christ loves him and that I love him. I told him that it is not the life that I would choose for him and that it being a life style that is "outside" the norm of society he would have to deal with a lot of anger, hatred and prejudice. I also told him that God hates the sin not the sinner. I am a nurse and I don't believe that gay people are born that way I think that they make a decision to live that way. That being said I love my godson and will always love him. He is a good person , I do not tell him that he is going to hell because I am not the almighty and I don't know what will happen to him when he dies. I guess I am not a "fundie" but I am a Christian and I do know that the only way to the Lord is to accept Jesus as your Lord and savior. So don't clump all of us into your neat little package for the purpose of trying to make us look like we are in the wrong because we believe in the Lord. The young man that you are talking about in the story(real or not) may have taken his own life any way whether his parents talked to him about his immortal soul or not.

Don't give up hope. Everything is possible. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Just try to do a little better but there is no need to force things to happen.

Homosexuals is not inherited as many tries to say. In 1st. Cor. Aposlte Paul had to deal with some that use to be homo, & but was converted to Christ, Paul remind them where they use to be & where they are now. You can find that in 1st Cor. 6:11
