Very interesting and relevant question. A number of actions can be taken, such as:

- Education, first and foremeost, people need to be aware of each others faiths and beliefs and so should be taught basic facts about the major faiths.
- Politicians to take religious leaders in to confidence and ask them to discourage hate-mongering in the name of religion.
- Encourage diallogue amongst the faiths.
- Ban the propogation of hate and violence by religious groups.
- Ensure protection from persecution and discrimination on the basis of ethnicity/religion (easy to say but very difficult to implement).
- Ensure more development and economic betterment of people so that they do not fall in to the trap of the hate-mongerers. This is to say even if the first of the Millenium Development Goals can be achieved i.e. reduce absolute poverty and hunger by 2015, it will go a long way in reducing conflict.

Its a tall agenda, but given the seriousness of the issue, it has to be dealt with as it is right up there with climate change, which is being given increasing attention in the headlines right now.

First off if you are talking about wars then you are actually wrong, sorry.

religion is used as a tool for wars, but it is not the cause of any war and never has been. It's like patriotism is used as a tool. In other words governments use these things to get the people behind them. Yes, people are easily fooled with these things, however wars are ussually caused by money.

However if you are talking about these fights we have on here that will never go away, it's human nature to fight things we disagree with. Some people have over came this human trait, however it's still human nature.

the major religions look about intolerance and the opt to slaughter than something else!! George W Bush began 5 wars in decrease than 8 years pointing out each and every time that it grow to be his "God Given duty” and in 2001 even pronounced as it a marketing campaign!! not his duty to the electors!! not his duty to u . s . a .!! purely his duty to save slaughtering heathens for his god!! The terrorist attacks and severe sectarian violence has been not purely been added about via Al-Qaeda which at the same time as being solely Sunni deliberately set Shi’ites and Sunnis to kill one yet another in Iraq. regrettably better muslims die via muslim fingers each month than were killed via the invading forces contained in the conflict!! Hamas also kills far better muslims than the Israelis ever have!! both the major international religions look to thrive on slaughter!!

Stop prodding each other's ribs and minding one's own business. Everybody has got enough dirt on one's porch to focus on it.
