1. wheat bread: 130 calories
2. pork dumplings: 200 calories
3. mango smoothie: 200 calories
4. granola bar and apple: 200 calories
5. 0% fat yogurt: 90 calories
I'm trying to maintain a 1000-1200 calorie diet, and I'm wondering what the diet above is missing, since I don't know what else to add?

You're missing fresh fruit and vegetables. You're also including foods that are very high in fat (pork dumplings and granola). When you chose foods, you need to pay attention to how many of the calories are from fat. This always listed right where the calories per serving are listed. If a food has 200 cal. and 170 are from fat, you aren't going to see much in the way of weight loss. Better bet is to talk to your doctor about a healthy diet and exercise plan.

If you maintain your calories you will lose weight. It doesn't matter what you eat. The problem is that what you eat burns differently and you will be hungry sooner if you eat the wrong things. The right combination of carbs and protein is critical to make your 1000 calories last all day without you starving by 3:00 in the afternoon. That is the trick. Also, don't get stuck with limited item diets. They work for a little while but they will always fail since your body has a conscience of its own and will soon revolt.
If you count the calories and you stick with it you will loose the weight. Weight Watchers is a calories counting system of sorts. Everything is based on calories. The food combination and not getting bored is the real work.
Good luck and you can do it.

This diet is missing everything! Where is the nutrional value here?! Try this instead:
Breakfast: Non-toasted muesli with fresh fruit and skim milk
Lunch: Wholemeal wrap with hummus & salad
Dinner: Steamed fish & vegetables
Snacks: Plenty of fruit, handful of nuts, tub of yoghurt
Dont worry about calories, just worry about nutrition. The lower the HI (Human Inteference) factor the healthier the food so non-processed & organic food is the best way to go!

try a protein shake and I think your calorie intake should be a little more. thats hardly any fuel for the body. get to 2,000 calories a day with 4 to five meals each containing about 400 to 500 calories per meal. your body will digest this a lot better than two big meals for the day and wont store it as fat. Cardio 45mins at good pace, get that heart rate up and keep it there for 45mins and you will see a big difference in weight. 4 to 5 times a wk.

You should use some vegetables, but more importantly you need to have an assorted diet plan. I keep a record of my daily calorie intake at www.ProjectWeightLoss.com – it lets me build my own diet, and it calculates how many calories it has; it also calculates how many calories I need to eat to reach my ideal weight, and it tells me whether I’m over/under.

You need vegetables. And you only have 820 calories-your body's metabolism will get messed up. Is this what you eat everyday? Not good. You need to eat a varied diet of protein, veggies, and some carbs. 1200 calories is a good goal. Slow and easy

Add more food. Seriously. By increasing your caloric intake to at least 1300 cal/day and eating in regular intervals you will jump start your metabolism and lose weight faster. Eat a balance of lean protein, complex carbs and fruit or veg at every meal and you will lose weight faster, more consistently and most importantly without going hungry.
