I'm not a counselling student by the way. This is not my homework and I am not seeking a short-cut. I have visited the appropriate sites but I do not understand their rather convoluted explanation.

The difference is one is just asking for an answer to a question an instructor asked you to answer. The other is doing the research so that you not only understand the difference, but gain experience doing research.

Try to remember... your instructor already knows the answer. They aren't asking because they need you to educate them. The idea is for you to learn to do research. Something you will use all of your life, if you are an intelligent, educated person.

no transference or counter transference in pc Hopefully both have sincere wish to help client both think relationship most important thing. Difference is person centred therapists dont think that they are psychodynamic whereas psychodynamic practitioners seem to think they are person centred. It being used synonymously with 'nice''gentle' it is used as an adjective in front of pscyhodynamic whereas they are two discrete approaches which cannot mix. other approaches don't often 'get' the relentlessness of the pc approach and don't appreciate the skill - Like Dolly Parton says "it cost a fortune to look this cheap!'
