My husband bought me a multi-symptom but all I have is a sore throat.

It's just silly to risk the adverse effects of multiple drugs in order to treat one symptom. Acetaminophen/paracetamol (its name depends on which side of the Atlantic you're on) along with salt-water gargles should be adequate treatment for a sore throat (though if you have strep throat it's a good idea to take antibiotics to prevent complications). Decongestants risk cardiovascular side-effects, cough suppressants hardly work and can cause upset stomach, and antihistamines do nothing useful but cause sedation and occasionally other central nervous system and other complications. The world would be a better place if the multi-symptom concoctions were to disappear from the shelves.

Gargle with hot salt water and a cap full of hydrogen peroxide. Throw the multi-symptom crap away, it only masks symptoms, doesn't cure them, thereby exacerbating the existing condition.

No. Why over-medicate?
