What can I expect to do on an "average day?" What kind of PT is there, classroom work, etc.? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I went through Navy boot camp at Great Lakes in the winter of 1969. It was bitterly cold and we had to be outside on the "grinder" before sunrise every day. The Company "Commander" who was really just a Chief Petty Officer was one mean son of a *****. However, I and everyone else in the company survived the ten weeks of training, and when we got out of boot camp, it was spring.

What I remember is a lot of stupid ****, having to make our beds and folding our underwear to perfection, the "Commander" getting in my face and swearing at me, getting a lot of medical shots, and classes in firefighting, etc. The only good thing I remember is the Navy food.

I'm SURE the recruiter has a pamphlet that describes the "average-day"... it's long 4am-10pm... it's busy... but anyone in good health, good shape, and the correct attitude can complete.

Just listen and learn. And thank you for serving Young Miss Shipmate... enjoy your time.

I did basic in Orlando, Florida long ago in 1985... still great memories.

And YES, I still fold my tshirts and skivvies in the right way... the NAVY WAY !!

Look here worm. If you need to ask questions like this then you ask me. You don't have a mom, you don't have a dad all you got is me and I'm not to happy with you. So get down and give me twenty before I get real mad. 1976

it is easy compared to when i went in 85, you will run a lot and do push ups and sit ups, they have this trainer for fire fighting to see how you handle stress, gas attack training, just listen to your instructors, follow all the rules, and you will do fine
