Yes! I spend a lot of time contemplating this, and the pure wisdom of the dharma he teaches could not have been realised/expounded by an unenlightened man.

He would not proclaim it mind, as he has no ego and would be completely humble (people wrote/remembered what he told them; he did not write the sutras). He removed ignorance, greed, hatred and desire from his mind and accordingly he defeated Mara.

Monks don't run around shouting that they're enlightened, but most sure do smile alot. :-)

He was enlightened, no question about it. So is the Dalai Lama.
Jesus told us to judge a tree by it's fruit, and the fruit is quite good off this tree.
If a Buddhist gets really mad, he burns himself. Kinda weird, but enlightened.

Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita,chapter 10, verse 8:-
aham sarvasya prabhavo
mattah sarvam pravartate
iti matva bhajante mam
BUDHAH bhava-samanvitah.
I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.

BUDHAH, mentioned above means learned man or wise person without illusion. The word BUDHAH comes from the Sanskrit word root budh-dhatu. From budh-dhatu the name of Lord Buddha has come. So anyone who is well versed, complete in wisdom, he is called the BUDHAH .

Obviously you don't understand the term "BUDDHA".
Buddha means The Enlightened One.So your question is wrongly phrased.

If by "enlightened" you mean he was snotty rich kid who gave up his possessions and sat naked on a floor for 20 years and had people cater to his every need, then yeah.

Buddha never claimed to be God, in fact he said there was no God. Jesus Christ says He is God. You have to make a decision about that one.
