What is so great about this drug? Were you hooked from the first time you tried it? How and why did you get hooked? Also, how has using this drug changed you / your life?

I am a recovering drug addict. I have been clean for over 11 years. I was surrounded by speed-freaks and crack-heads for many years, and although meth was not my "drug of choice", I did do a lot of it. I liked the effects of heroin/downers, which is probably the only reason I didn't get hooked on meth. My sister is also an addict and she likes cocaine and crystal. She ended up getting hooked on "ice" (the crystal rocks that you smoke). You only have to do it a few times to get hooked. The feeling you get is so far beyond euphoric. All I can tell you is that meth is like the devil himself. It just takes over your soul. The real person inside slowly disappears. All you are left with is this empty shell of nothingness who can't think about anything else but getting high - NO MATTER WHAT. You lose all regard for friends and family. You can't stop craving that feeling over and over again, which is true for most all of the heavy duty drugs (crystal, heroin, cocaine) The really tragic part is that the more you use it, the less euphoric it feels - it is a vicious cycle - it will never feel as good as it did at first, but you can't stop your brain and your body from trying to get back that original feeling, so you do more and more. Plus, with crystal - it is so much easier to get than anything else. The supplies almost never run out because it can be manufactured at home. It is cheap to make, easy to get, gives you energy to get things done, helps you lose weight, and temporarily makes you forget about ALL your problems. It is the ultimate escape from a painful reality. Drug addiction is the most cunning, baffling, and powerful disease. I could go on and on.... I was finally able to get some relief after 5 rehabs, and countless 12-step meetings. When I actually started taking the suggestions of the other recovering addicts in the meetings, and doing what the program told me to do - then I started to lose my desire to use drugs. It is possible to get much better, but the addict has to want it more than anything.

If you are close to an addict - you can get help for yourself, even if the addict never decides to get help. You desperately need to go to Al-anon so you can keep from going nutz right along with the addict. Al-anon is basically for friends of alcoholics, but it really doesn't matter. It's all about dealing with an addict. There are also Narcotics Anonymous meetings that are "open" to non-addicts. These can give you some insight into addiction also. They do have some Nar-anon meetings for families, but they are kinda hard to find. If you want to communicate one on one - you can email me.

I seriously doubt any crystal meth addicts would answer, most of what they own is in hock and that would include their PC.
From what I've heard it is a very nasty and highly addictive drug that can damage you for life.
